  1. NCSC celebrates National Technology day on 11th May every year when a well-known Scientist/Science communicator is invited for a presentation.

  2. NCSC has conducted 10 workshops jointly with BARC for school Science teachers to impart the latest information on the frontiers of Science. About 600 school teachers and B.Ed. students from English and Marathi medium schools participated in these workshops in the years 2001 & 2002.
  3. NCSC hosted a three-day- International Conference of Science Communicators in January 2000 at Pune, which was attended by about 210 Science Communicators from India and abroad.  {Image 1, 2, 3}
  4. Published Proceedings of the Conference and is available at the NCSC office.   (Price:  Rs.100 + Postage charges)
  5. NCSC has aided in the translation of eighteen science fiction stories on Robotics from Marathi to Kannada. The book is available at the NCSC office (Price: Rs.100 plus postage charges)
  6. NCSC regularly organizes lectures on varied scientific topics by eminent scientists and science communicators.
    • Dr. Vachaspati Thapalial, Dy. Director-General, Indian Metereological Science, on (Parameters of Monsoon prediction)
    • Dr. Joseph Rotblat, Nobel Laureate on “Security in the Nuclear Age”. {Image}
  7. Organized workshops on the Art of Interviewing in Marathi, Hindi, Gujarati and    English languages.
  8. A National Directory of Science Communicators containing 641 entries was jointly published by NCSC and NCSTC, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India and released at the hands of Dr. B. Bhattacharjee, Director of BARC. The Directory is available at the NCSC office (Price: Rs.100 plus postage charges).
  9. NCSC conducts Certificate course in Science Journalism, duration 3 months on weekends – Saturday and Sunday. Every year two batches; through English and Marathi medium are convened. The courses are on since the year 2000. Up till now as of March 2003, 73 students have graduated.      {Image 1, 2}
  10. The NCSC hosted its First International Conference of Science Communicators at IUCAA in Pune in January 2000, the theme being “Public Understanding of Science”. Around 210 Science Communicators across the globe attended the event.
  11. The second International Conference of Science Communicators was organised at the BARC, Mumbai to felicitate and honor renowned Astrophysicist and science Communicator Prof Jayant Narlikar, in July 2003.The theme of the conference, was “Man and the Universe”.
  12. The third International Conference of Science Communicators was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in the year April 2005; the theme being Science Communication in developing countries.
  13. In October 2005, NCSC organised a National Seminar for Science Communicators on Expanding Horizons of School Science Education at the Labour India Complex, Marangattupilly, Kottayam, Kerala
  14. In November 2006 a National Conference – Vision 2026 – Challenges in Science Communication, was organised at the Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India on 26th November 2006
